Compassion for the Disabled Uganda is a journalism driven advocacy organization founded by journalist Mugabi Gabriel. The organization is built on ethical journalism and human centered storytelling as tools for social transformation.
Unlike traditional service delivery organizations, CFD is storytelling driven and media-powered. Persons with disabilities are placed at the center of their own narratives, speaking for themselves about their challenges, aspirations, talents, and achievements.
Storytelling Program
Overview
This program empowers people living with disabilities in Uganda to share their personal stories, highlighting challenges, achievements, and experiences. Each story ends with a Thanksgiving message where participants express gratitude for positive moments in their journey.
Needs Identification
Stories are used to identify the specific needs and challenges of each participant. A representative documents these needs, which are then reviewed and approved by the Active Director, ensuring that every story informs actionable support.
